Frequently asked questions.

SPICINESS

  • Yes, we have plenty of dishes that can be order without spiciness, including rolls, clear Tom Yum, Tom Kha, rice with stir-fries, Pad Thai, etc.

  • Creamy Tom Yum contains our homemade chili paste made from dried red chilies simmered with onion. This makes our Tom Yum a bit spicy unless you order clear Tom Yum without chili paste.

  • In the menu, we indicate the levels of spiciness with a fire icon. If you would like the food to be very spicy, please feel free to inform our waitstaff.

In case you find the food you order not spicy enough, you can definitely ask for extra or additional fresh chilies, chili sauce, or dry chili flakes. All of them are free of charge.

  • No, we are afraid not. The red and green curry pastes contains chili peppers as their main ingredient.

We can only make the curries less spicy by adding more coconut milk but the curries will remain a bit spicy.

MEAT

  • No, we do not serve pork. Our food contains only beef, chicken, and seafood such as cod or perch fish, shrimps, squid or cuttlefish, and mussels.

  • Officially no. Our food contains beef and chicken from reliable local suppliers and manufacturers that obtain Halal certificates. However, we do not obtain them.

Some seafood are acceptable, including fish and shellfish being popular parts of dishes in many Muslim-majority countries. However, we store them in the same refridgerator and freezer as beef and chicken, making our food storage procedures not meet the halal certification requirements.

  • Due to the fact that all seafood products are imported, the costs of this supply are originally high. There are several dishes that offer options of beef and chicken instead of seafood. The former are much cheaper than seafood dishes.

  • Now we serve only Phở Gà, which is Vietnamese rice noodle soup with chicken. We use shredded boiled chicken breasts instead of chicken drumsticks or chicken thighs that may have fatty skin on them.

HERBS

  • In Tom Yum and Tom Kha, we add bits of lemongrass, galangal, and kaffir lime leaves in the soup to bring a bit of fragrance.

  • Hmm….you can if you wish. However, those herbs are commonly added only to bring aromatic scents to the soup. Some of them are also hard to chew such as galangal. Better to leave them in the bowl.

  • The fresh basil leaves are local basils available in local bazars. During the winter season, the basils are the purple ones. The green basils are available when the weather is warmer especially in the summer season.

We add these fresh local basils in the dish and use Thai holy basils to make the sauce instead. Since the holy basils from Thailand cannot be kept fresh or frozen for long (the aroma is vanished), we dehydrate them and make the sauce from this dried holy basil powder instead.

  • Fresh cilantro or coriander is the most used herb in Thai cuisine. Thais use every part of cilantro in the food.
    1. The roots are smashed and add in a broth.
    2. stems are added with black or white pepper powder and garlic to make Sam Kluer (สามเกลอ) for marinade or stir-fries.
    3. Leaves are used as a topping on food before serving.

It is also commonly used in Vietnamese cuisine.

TIME

  • All the dishes like rice + stir-fried chicken or beef or Thai omelette. Pad Thai also takes little time to make.

  • All grilled items take longer time than other dishes to be served because we are allowed to have only an electric grill in Potayski. It takes time for the grill to be heated and for the food to be cooked.

  • Day time during lunch is ideal for all working people because we serve affordable quick lunch sets. Evening time after 7 pm can be crowded. Anyway, you do not have to make a reservation unless you will come with 10 or 20 people at once.

  • We close our kitchen at 22.00 but the bar still receives beverage orders after 22.00. The closing time is 23.00.
